The logistic label is often implemented together with the electronic delivery note.
The Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) that uniquely identifies the logistic unit, is mentioned on the GS1 Logistic Label that is put on the logistic unit. Using the electronic delivery note, the SSCC is mentioned with further information on the logistic carrier in the EDI message.
Therefore, the SSCC is the link between the physical logistic process and the digital information process.
When the tailgate of the truck has been closed, the supplier sends all the information on the logistic units in the truck through an electronic delivery note to the customer.
Next, the customer reads all the data from the electronic delivery note through their internal software.
This way, all the information about the logistic unit is automatically retrieved with the scanning of the SSCC on the logistic label. This enables a fast and smooth receipt in the warehouse.
