The 9-day Certified GS1 Category Manager® course provides you with the in-depth knowledge you need to implement effective and efficient category management. This training is given in collaboration with GS1 Germany and LD&CO and is entirely in English. This course is followed by a final exam. Upon successful completion of the test, you will receive the recognised and high quality "Certified GS1 Category Manager®" certificate.
Learning Objectives
The content guidelines are the uniform standards of ECR category management. The extensive virtual training covers everything from methodology, real-life case studies and practical simulations in interactive modules. A range features such as chat, video, virtual group rooms and surveys enable active participation and support the learning process. Our experienced trainers, together with experts, will explain the production and retail industry and the various tools to perform successful category management in your company.

- Homework Case Study | Part 1
The basic module introduces the participants to the subject of Efficient Consumer Response (ECR), the basics of Category Management and the 8-step plan. The category definition is described in detail to understand the category from the shopper's point of view. The strategic importance of the category to the retailer is discussed, as well as an in-depth study of the category rating. Category performance is reviewed, growth opportunities assessed, and the importance of setting appropriate category objectives is explained.
You will need to prepare a case study for this module to deepen the acquired knowledge.

- Exam preparation
The second module examines the tactics of assortment, positioning and promotion in more detail. A shopper-oriented assortment and positioning are prerequisites for increasing the category's turnover and realizing its potential. The right promotion mechanisms support the further use of the potential. A plan is only a plan until it is realized. The moment of truth goes into detail about the implementation and how to continuously improve the performance of the category.
In preparation for the Summit you will receive a detailed explanation of the exam criteria and an alignment of the individual themes for the written exam. The preparation for the final exam is estimated at 5 days.

During the exam, the acquired knowledge of the course is verified. The final paper is presented to the ECR expert committee. After successfully completing the final exam, the participant receives the title "Certified GS1 Category Manager®".
