How do I enter products with a variable weight?

Below are the fields that need to be entered specifically for variable weight items.

Step 1: enter the relevant fields in the product sheet

Use the search bar in the product sheet to look up the field names or to look them up directly in the tabs.

Field Instruction
Identification code variable product

To be entered only if you are still using a national number. 

Instructions

  1. Enter a leading zero so you have got 14 digits.
  2. Enter zeros where you would normally enter the weight or the price.
  3. Calculate the associated check digit.

Example:

Leading zero
Prefix for weight/price
National number = 22082
Zeros for weight/price
Check digit

To be entered if with weight: 02822082000001
To be entered if with price: 029522082000004

Indication variable item Set this to ‘Yes’
Net content Here is where you enter your product’s average weight.

Step 2 – identify the product sheet with a GTIN

After validating the product sheet, enter the GTIN of the product sheet.

  Own brand Private label
Consumer unit

GTIN based on your own company prefix, starting with 0.
NEVER a national number.
This is an administrative GTIN.

GTIN based on the prefix of the retailer, starting with 0
NEVER an internal number.
Only publish this to that particular retailer!
Logistical unit

GTIN based on your own prefix, starting with 9. Also calculate the check digit.
