GS1 as an enabler for a sustainable business tomorrow.
What are the challenges and how GS1 can help to address them? What does that mean for your company?
The barcode exists more than 50 years. In 2027, we roll out the next generation barcodes. But in the meantime, new legislation pushes sectors to put a data carrier on their label to connect the packaging with consumers, business and governments. The one barcodes fits all – scanning at the POS and connecting with consumers - is critical for all stakeholders.
How do we see this evolve? What is sustainable business? What does this mean for your company?
One thing is crystal clear: we need to exchange more data, with focus on packaging data.
What’s the plan? How to prepare for this huge challenge?

Setting the scene.
The LOI between Fost plus and GS1. What is the impact for you as packaging supplier, brand or retailer?
Fost Plus and GS1 have officially signed a Letter of Intent. Why? Could this collaboration be linked to the new Packaging and Packaging Waste regulation? Are they exploring a unified strategy for collecting and sharing packaging data? Will they harmonise packaging data attributes at Benelux and global level? And what about upstream processes? The big question remains: Can we simplify and streamline packaging data sharing for everyone?

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. What is it? What’s the impact on Fost Plus and GS1 members? And…how can GS1 standards contribute to make the common roadmap Fost Plus – GS1 (cost)efficient for all stakeholders?
Do we truly grasp how the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will transform our business processes, packaging data exchange, and the harmonisation of packaging data attributes?
What steps do we need to take to adapt? With these new requirements affecting both Fost Plus and GS1 members, how can a unified roadmap pave the way for success? Let’s explore how we can navigate these changes together and turn challenges into opportunities!
