Publication of the new GS1 Benelux datamodel DIY, garden & pet (May 2025)
The new version of the GS1 Benelux data model for the DIY, garden & pet sector (3.1.30) has been published. It will go live on 24 May 2025. Retailers will receive data according to the new data model from then on. Suppliers should therefore ensure that any changes have been implemented by then.
Key changes:
- International change in the GPC standard resulting in the removal/merging of GPC bricks for structural timber, finishing moldings, softboard panels, and insecticides/pesticides.
- Implementation of international GDSN changes to attributes and picklists, including an increase in the short product name length (35 → 40) and a specification update for net content (500 → 1.000).
- Addition of various attributes to the data model to capture data on product CO2 emissions.
- Activation of GPC bricks for capturing smoking accessories, equestrian equipment, water storage products, masonry tools, sports balls, seating furniture, sandbags, insect hotels, and party supplies.
- Addition and correction of GPC brick translations for Dutch and French.
Expired attributes
From May 24, certain attributes will be discontinued. These attributes were originally defined based on the needs of the time, but these needs have changed over the years, and data is now exchanged differently. For several of these discontinued attributes, replacement attributes are available and can be found in the published data model.
The discontinued attributes include:
- The method for indicating suitability for cold water, hot water, polluted water, etc., has changed from indicator fields to a single attribute containing all possible values.
- Some attributes previously existed both as indicator fields and as selectable values in a picklist.
- Where possible, we align with attributes that are now internationally available.
