GS1 is an organisation that strives for a more efficient supply chain by offering companies global standards for identification, as well as for capturing and sharing data. One of the best known standards is the barcode. Companies become members of GS1 by purchasing a unique code (GS1 company prefix and/or GLN) in order to uniquely identify their products.
A membership at GS1 Belgilux is equivalent to purchasing a company prefix with which you can uniquely identify products. The use of the number is subject to an annual contribution calculated on the total turnover of the company.
In addition, there are also other contracts that can be concluded with us. These are also renewed annually.
Please find more information about our rates here.
You can view and manage your membership as well as your company details in My GS1.
There are various contracts, each with its own product. Below is more information about our most common contracts:
- Codes (prefix 1)
CON-XXX refers to a company prefix that allows products to be uniquely identified. The company prefix can be found under "My Contracts" on My GS1. The fee depends on your company's revenue and the number of codes in your package.
- My Product Manager Share
With My Product Manager Share, you can create complete product sheets for your products and share them with your data recipients.
- My Coupon Manager
By subscribing to My Coupon Manager, you can exchange your discount coupons with various actors within the coupon ecosystem.
More information about other contracts can be found on our pricing page.
The annual contribution is calculated based on the total turnover of the affiliated company for which the GS1 company prefix was purchased. The extent to which your company actually uses barcoding does not affect the rate of the annual contribution.
Every year we ask the administrator(s) of the My GS1 account to provide the total turnover (including a supporting document).
As of January 1st 2022, the fee is adapted based upon the remaining period until December 31st of the year of purchase. For example: If you buy 10 barcodes in March 2022, you will pay for 10 months (10/12), thus 2/12 less than the yearly fee.
As of January 2022:
- Pro rata invoicing will be effective as of January 2022.
- The year after purchase, you will pay each year in January the full yearly fee that remains valid until December 31st of that year.
A company prefix is always valid for a (calendar) year. In accordance with our general terms and conditions, a membership must be cancelled before June 30th of the current membership year. If you cancel your membership after this date, the invoice for the following calendar year still has to be paid.
Send the PO number with the details of the person responsible (name, first name and e-mail address) to support@gs1belu.org. We will then provide an invoice with the respective PO number. The following year, the person specified for the annual invoicing will be contacted to send us the PO number.
GS1 Belgilux is not a supplier, but a service provider. Companies are affiliated with GS1 Belgilux and not vice versa. We cannot follow up on individual procedures specific to the affiliated company.
A membership cannot be temporarily cancelled. If you wish to cancel your membership, this must be done before June 30th of the current membership year, in accordance with our general conditions. If you wish to rejoin afterwards, this will be considered as a new membership (with the rates provided for this.
The product codes (GTINs) are managed by the company itself. Since March 2019, GS1 Belgilux has had the "My Product Manager” tool with which product codes and bar codes can be easily managed and created. Have you created codes via this route? Then go to the tool for an overview of the codes.
If you have already created codes yourself, but are interested in using the tool in the future, then please contact us via support@gs1belu.org.
An incorrect amount was charged
Please send an e-mail to support@gs1belu.org with a reasoning as to why the amount is wrong. Was the wrong revenue category taken into account? Then please enclose the company's annual statement for proof of correct follow-up.
The VAT number on my invoice is incorrect
If the VAT number of the company has changed, we will regard this as a takeover, even if it concerns the same company. First create a new account (with the new VAT number) in My GS1. Then fill in this form and send it to support@gs1belu.org. We then do the necessary to adjust the company details, send a credit note and a new invoice with the correct VAT number.
My company was taken over with the continuation of the company prefix
The company must cancel its membership via support@gs1belu.org stating the data of the acquiring company and a contact person in a copy of the e-mail.
There is an error in the address data
Send an e-mail to support@gs1belu.org with the correct information so that we can carry out the adjustment(s).
